- a: bodice; beige background; narrow vertical and horizontal stripes; brown flowers; background pattern is purple squiggles; linen button, hook and eye closure at centre front; armhole, neck, waistband has piping finish; slight gathering at front and back; sleeves at puffed at shoulder; sleeves are very full; cuff has scalloped lace at edge; b: skirt; same fabric; gathered waistband; two rows of self ruffles half way down; c: shawl; same fabric; long rectangle

- While the original donation documentation does read 1835, the style of the bodice and skirt, as well as the print on the textile, appear to be much closer to the aesthetic of the early 1850s. More research is required to confirm or adjust the dating.
